Monday night saw an excited contingent from Team Vanti take their seats at the InAVation Awards at Amsterdam’s Gashouder to find out if we were to return to Birmingham in a blaze of glory or empty handed. We knew we were up against some incredibly stiff competition in the Education Facility category, with a total of 10 finalists from around the world all hoping to take home the coveted award.
The project category finalists for the 2018 InAVation Awards were announced today, and we’re very pleased to announce that Vanti have been shortlisted in the Education Facility category for our work on Birmingham City University’s Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
September 2017 saw the launch of BCU’s new Birmingham Conservatoire, a state-of-the-art project that was several years in the making and took two years to construct. The world-class Conservatoire, which was granted a Royal status just two weeks after it opened, cost £57 million and features five public performance spaces, including the 500-seat concert hall, 150-seat recital hall, and a 100-seat organ studio. The building also boasts the UK’s first permanent conservatoire-based jazz space, which seats 80, and a flexible and versatile black-box studio called The Lab where students can experiment and innovate.
We love supporting exciting events that take place in our home city of Birmingham, which is why we’re so pleased to be sponsoring TEDxBrum – a day-long event that provides a platform for some of today’s most inspired thinkers.
This year’s TEDxBrum will take place on Sunday 15th October at the iconic Birmingham Hippodrome, where over 1800 audience members will be inspired by a range of incredible speakers and performers as they take the stage to share their thoughts and ideas on this year’s theme of perspectives.
Our Engineering Team are at the heart and soul of every Vanti project and our Principal Engineers help to lead and develop our talented Engineering Team through technical expertise. They construct highly complex and intricate technology solutions focusing primarily on integrating control systems such as AMX and Crestron with other audio and video hardware, as well as building services such as lighting and HVAC systems. They are in charge of the technical delivery of smaller projects from end to end, ensuring that designs are translated correctly into fully working solutions and that systems are properly documented and handed over to our service team. They also assist with the training and development of more junior Engineers, whilst working alongside Commissioning Engineers and Software Developers when commissioning or troubleshooting systems on larger projects.
Principal Engineers are the ones in charge of quality control at an engineering level, focused on the detail, making sure that equipment racks are built and wired to the right standard. By completing initial testing and sign off, you’ll ensure that every component, cable and connector in every Vanti engineered system is wired to the correct standard, ensuring long term reliability with minimal maintenance and support. At the end of a project you will often find yourself handing systems over to clients and showing them how their new equipment works, helping build their confidence whilst maintaining a great Vanti experience.

Vanti Project Coordinators take ownership for projects from start to finish and are responsible for cost control, profitability and making sure we keep to the plan. More importantly than that, you will be key to ensuring both our clients and internal teams enjoy a quality Vanti Experience. One that is organised, proactive and communicative. Project Coordinators are the people who make things happen and remove road blocks for our Engineers and Service Team so they can complete the job they’re supposed to. Ultimately, ensuring a great working environment and happy engineers, suitable for the project in hand.

Vanti are proud to be from Birmingham, and we’re always looking for opportunities to help promote or support our great city. It’s for this very reason that we were delighted to be involved in the recent TEDxBrum 2016, providing internet connectivity, wireless and live streaming services throughout the event.
