Innovation Birmingham Campus
Birmingham Science Park Aston (BSPA) was founded in 1982 and is now one of the UK’s leading science parks. It continues to actively work with, and bring together, the public and private sectors, to promote innovation.
The Innovation Birmingham Campus has a highly successful Entrepreneurs for the Future (e4f) programme, which offers dedicated support for the next generation of tech entrepreneurs and is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
As part of this important programme, Hugo Russell, Project Manager and Networks Facilitator, was looking for innovative, forward thinking ‘young’ businesses to occupy space in the Innovation Campus to develop and add value to both the park and local community.
Hugo explains “Vanti fitted the bill perfectly. BSPA viewed Vanti as an innovator and leader in the audio-visual and IT collaborative arena and worked with them to offer help and support in getting established. This included offering them incubator space in the park as a tenant.”
It became clear very quickly how useful it would be to have Vanti there. During our time on campus and in the years since, Vanti have always been happy to provide support, advice and installation work to Innovation Birmingham, their tenants, and other businesses throughout the Midlands.
Ben Hughes, IT Manager: “Vanti’s work is always exceptional. They are always able to interpret our requirements to deliver a successful outcome to each project.”
From the outset, Innovation Birmingham were impressed with the way in which Vanti demonstrated a clear vision, business plan and detailed knowledge of technology combined with business.
When it came to approaching Vanti for their services, Hugo continued to be impressed. “Rather than selling you an idea, Vanti works out what your business is trying to achieve. They make the solution right for the problem, rather than trying to force a problem to fit an existing solution.”
Innovation Birmingham needed support with their collaborative space and conference room. Often working to very tight deadlines, Vanti delivered beyond the initial requirements.
An example of the type of support Vanti provided is for the main conference room, where Innovation Birmingham were initially told that they needed a ceiling document camera. Vanti challenged this and came up with a solution that not only saved money for Innovation Birmingham but also improved functionality.
Vanti also helped Innovation Birmingham to integrate multiple rooms into a single video conferencing system that ensured they were using their equipment in the most efficient way.
What we did for Innovation Birmingham Campus
As result of Vanti’s installation work, a number of conferences and events have successfully taken place at the Innovation Birmingham Campus. This included an event attended by David Cameron, then Prime Minister of the UK, where they used the video conference facilities to good effect with colleagues in London.
The audio-visual technology and IT had been seamlessly integrated and everything went smoothly which was critical, given the importance of the visitors to the Campus.
Hugo comments: “Vanti’s installation work is so neat and precise that it makes the technology seem invisible. At the same time, they make it so easy to use that there is no need for specialists to operate it.”
Vanti has educated us on how to connect our audio-visual technology to our IT infrastructure, ensuring that it works now and for the long term.
